French Fancies

Embryolisse is a pharmaceutical skincare company hailing from Paris that has been an expert in it's field for more than 60 years. Their products are a massive hit with skincare devotee's and Make-Up Artists alike.  I find when I'm working long hours my skin really dries out.  At home I always keep my very favourite skin care products to hand, but I also always have some rotating new ones that I am in the process of trying out.  Embryolisse - Filaderme Emulsion is one of those products.

It is a brilliant moisturiser that really packs a punch.  My skin has been crying out for a product that is light but incredibly hydrating and this really ticks both of those boxes.

In the translated direction sheet that is packed into the box I found a section filled with little skincare tips.  They are so typically French and such good advice that I think we could all do with incorporating them into our skincare routines.  Here are just a couple...
  • Don't let water dry on your skin, It will dehydrate it.
  • Don't rub your skin dry, pat it gently with a towel.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and excessive quantities of tobacco and alcohol.
  • Eat a balanced diet keeping fats. sugar and salt to a minimum.

If you discover Embryolisse on your travels pick up some of their products and let me know what you think of them.

Epithet - A Cautionary Tale

Since I have been absent this whole week, I thought I would leave you with a lovely little film that I shot recently.

Be warned the language is very strong and there is some violence so please heed the message at the start of the film if you are easily offended. If not then take a look.

Can you guess who Patrick Stewart is playing a contemporary version of?

Have a great weekend!

Its so quite around here....

Oh, how I'm missing this little corner of the internet right now.  You see the thing is when you are a Make- Up Artist and you are working on a TV show or film your hours are long, like really long.  Normally you arrive at the studio along with the costume department way before most other departments in order to get everything ready for the arrival of the actors.  They come into make-up from 7:00AM before doing anything else.  I like to get onto my make-up truck at around 6:30AM, just before my team arrive so I can get things organised for the day...

This clearly is not my make-up truck (it's The Rockette's getting ready for a show in 1944...Awesome!). However it is equally as chaotic.  More to come as I take you guys through a typical day on set in a Make-Up department.

Super Kawaii

(image via)

This collaboration is so cute.  Not only do I love the brand Shu Uemura, did I mention this fact already? Yes? Oh okay lets move on.  I also love me some beautiful packaging.  The cleansing oil is a product I use daily, and now this collaboration with highly acclaimed Japenese kimono artist Mamechiyo gives the product one hundred percent more shelf appeal.  Due to hit stores in May.

They didn't just make over the cleansing oil they also made over the UV under base mousse.  Is this possibly, even, cuter?  Another wonder product that I always have in my kit.  It is akin to a BB cream which we spoke about here, but is a mousse and designed to go beneath your foundation, and if your skin is fairly decent to begin with this wonder product really makes it sing!

However I'm not sure if any of these are as sweet as these girls I snapped during the Japanese new year celebrations on a recent trip to Tokyo.  I love the kimono/bowler hat combo. Super Kawaii!
